The Scottish Alternative Music awards have returned for a third year, drawing necessary attention to the Scottish bands and artists that mainstream music tend to ignore. Since launching the public vote for 2 weeks, 18 000+ music fans have shown interest in supporting their favourite acts within our nominees by voting, and showing they care for Scottish music scene, and independent music.
The Garage main event last night featured performances from Bwani Junction, Vukovi, Fridge Magnets, and surprise sets from winning acts Madhat McGore and Fatherson. Awards were given out from key music industry figures such as Vic Galloway, Ally McCrae and Jim Gellatly.
Founder and Creative Director of the SAMAs, Richy Muirhead says:“Last night was such a buzz! It was so great to see everyone come together and support the Scottish music scene, the entire atmosphere was electric. The event featured so many diverse acts from hip hop, rock, and electronic backgrounds which was something i’d personally wanted to do – which everyone seemed to really enjoy!”
